Editor’s Letter
Dear Reader,
Welcome back! The past academic year has been long and challenging at Expanded Field. With old members leaving the board and new members joining the team, publishing before the end of the year felt impossible at times. I am therefore most excited to finally present you with our newest issue: Metaphysical.
Metaphysical reconsiders the line between reality and fiction. It examines our dreams, thoughts, and physical experiences, and highlights the subjectivity of it all. The pieces in this issue explore the paradoxical nature of our lives, focusing on nature, spirituality, and the construction of (non-)fiction. They show us that what seems to be real does not necessarily have to be, blurring the distinction between what is and what is not, and underlining the value of what is purely subjective. I hope that through Metaphysical, you find comfort at the edge of meaning and come to peace with the inevitable.
I would like to thank both the authors and our past and present board for their hard work and patience. This year has not been easy, but we managed to put together yet another collection of beautiful and inspiring stories from all around the world. Without you, this issue could not have become reality.
