Submit Your Work!

After a long time away, the magazine is back and running, with a new board and fresh ideas. To go along with our revival, Expanded Field’s new issue will be centred around the theme: Rebirth: New Beginnings. You may, of course, interpret this theme as creatively as you would like!

Please submit your work before February 28th, and see below for the requirements and information.

Submission Requirements

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK

To submit your work, please send us an email at expandedfieldjournal@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Your (pen)name

  • The category of your piece

  • The title of your piece

  • Your piece in the file format specified below

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please submit only one piece in one category at a time. If text-based, submissions must be in English. However, please note that we encourage English translations of your previous work, as well as linguistic and structural experiments. Visual art and comics are also supported and welcomed.

Needless to say, AI-generated works are not eligible for publication. Autocorrect and grammar-software are of course allowed.

In the submission form, please note the category for which you’d like your piece to be considered:

  • Prose

  • Poetry

  • Image

  • Open category

FORMATTING GUIDELINES

For text-based work, please use Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double-spacing, unless spatial layout is integral to your text’s communicative or aesthetic intent. Please submit these works as .doc or .docx files.

For image/text works, please use a high-resolution scan of 300 PPI. Please submit these works as .jpg files.

We recommend that submissions in the prose category do not exceed 3,000 words.

REVIEW PROCESS & RESPONSE

The editorial team, together with the faculty advisor, blind-reviews all submissions. If your submission is accepted, we will contact you for the editing process. Our average response time is between two weeks and one month.

Please note that once your work has been accepted, we will not accept any more major edits to the text. If there are any additional revisions you want to make, they must be kept to a few words at most. Please, communicate them as soon as possible.
