We, the Youth

We, the youth
are tried, trailed and tired.
We wish to scream out
all our lingering frustrations and stress.
But then we fear what our screams might awaken.

We, the youth
are carrying a lot.
Expectations and dreams,
yet to be fulfilled.
We wish to throw them out and run
but then we fear that we might be chased.

We, the youth
are well aware of our fears.
It would be nice to be free of them
but then we fear our fears.

About Us

There’s a strange fuss
about us.
There’s much to discuss!

There’s an odd concern
regarding us
There’s much to unburden!

Here’s a sad fact
about us
Hope it is not too abstract

We hear the fuss.
We want to discuss,
relieve the concern
and raise the burdens.
But we, too,
don’t know much
about us.

On & On

Row, stop, row!
I tried to follow
some useless waves,
put in all my gains.
I dived in
but was never a swimmer.
So I drowned
with my stale weight
in that vain sea.

Open, shut, open!
I let out my heart once—
it came back bruised.
So I kept saving my thoughts
and started building walls.
It piled up, my great wall!
One that even I couldn’t scale.
I’m waiting till I overflow
and my great wall falls.

Sow, grow, sow!
I planted my deeds
to reap some fruitful seeds.
Unexpectedly, this exceeds
what I thought
for I keep gaining more,
more than I sought.
