Editor's Letter

Guess who’s back!?

As we enter a new decade - and on a leap year no less - the Expanded Field team is excited to bring you our new issue: ‘Episodes’. It’s been a year of change for us, with old friends leaving and a new editorial team taking over. We have taken a step into the future of this publication together, reimagining the website and introducing new ideas and aesthetics with the hope that you, the readers, can continue to enjoy and grow with us.

It has definitely been a learning curve, with many big decisions made and challenges faced, but in our fifth issue, we hope you will reflect alongside us on the past in order to look forward to the future. The episodes of life vary in content and effect from person to person, but here we have tried to collect a few examples from all over the world; Denmark to the USA, and between.

With a huge range of submissions to choose from, the Expanded Field team has reviewed and selected the following content based on more than just talent, but a whole range of criteria. Join us as we explore a kitchen, outer space and our own minds, through a range of fiction, poetry and art - at your leisure.

We would like to offer a huge thank you to our submitters, and encourage you to continue sending us your work. Also to the entire team, new and old, thank you - it wouldn’t have happened without you. A special acknowledgement goes to the old editorial board and of course, Dr. Erin la Cour, for their commitment to helping us adapt to our new roles and their patience in the (somewhat turbulent) process.

Without further ado, I would like to introduce the new core team, with Maia Baum and Camilla Hansen as managing editors, Jasmine Palmer copyediting, Gabriel Geiger in charge of design and Sabine van der Schut handling submissions.

As we all live our own episodes, I hope that we at Expanded Field can carry on sharing with you work that deserves to be shared, and that you will continue to interact with, support, and most importantly, enjoy it.
